Ctose Battle Anticipated At Nephi When Top Teams Battle For League Lead; Sophomores Play Preliminary At b:JU The Springville High School Red Devils will test their fire this Friday at Nephi in hopes of singeing off the nign-ily-ing wings of victory on the Juab Wasps. Shouldjhejpark - that carried the Devils through triumphantly over Tintic continue to briskly burn come Friday night, then hopes for another victory on the Wasp floor will certainly not be in vain. Game time is set for 8 p. m., with a Sophomore preliminary prelim-inary opening at 6:30. Top Game . . . Friday's contest is definitely the top game in Region Three warfare, I at least as far as Springville and Juab are concerned. Both teams I came through their opening battle bat-tle last week with wins, and both teams will be out to continue on with a clean slate. Springville tipped the Juab club last year in surprising upsets, and will be a marked club for so doing, by this year's southern edition. Battle of Centers . . . When the two teams line up, there is in the offing a battle between be-tween the teams' two centers, Christensen for Springville, and Kay for Juab. Both boys are consistent con-sistent scorers and key men on the two teams' clubs. Wolfe, forward, and Wilkey, guard for the Wasps, are also good scorers on the Juab team. Boswell, the other forward, and Worthnigton round out the probable starting team for the southern club. For Springville, Coach Hughes has a team that is capable of scoring once they get started. San-ford San-ford and Captain Fullmer, at forwards, for-wards, usually hit consistently, as does Center Christensen and Guards Hales and Norton. The outcome of this game will go a long way in determining just how the winning team can hope to stack up against the favored Nebo -title-winning Spanish Fork club when they meet. Friday Results . . I Despite the fact that the "supposedly "sup-posedly weak" second stringers played more than one full quarter, the Red Devils piled up one of their most convincing wins in years to send Tintic back through the fog to their mining city with a 54-22 defeat here last Friday night. Coach Hughes had the pleasure of seeing every man on the club score at least 2 points and play a good game. After the first quarter quar-ter there was no doubt as to the game's outcome. With the team playing good ball, each man scored on even terms. Christensen's backboard work, along with Captain Fullmer's and Hales', was particularly good. Norton, Clyde, Sanford and Smith also played well. The Sophs also won their game against the Tintic club, 32-16. Box score: TINTIC G. T. F. P.
