Banquet - Program Scheduled Wed, Jan 21 5 Outstanding Young Man Of The City To Be Selected for Award; Howard Maycock Will Be Guest Speaker During Evening Annually about this time of the year the attention of young and up-and-coming men of this city centers around the selection of the outstanding young man of the previous year. 5 A. H. Mortensen, who received the honor for 1946, has been selected se-lected as general chairman of arrangements ar-rangements for the Distinguished Service Award banquet, scheduled next Wednesday, January 21, at 8 p. m., at Memorial hall, at which the 1947 award will be made. "The DSA banquet and program is open to the public and we would like the public to take an interest in this annual award," Mr. Morten-sen Morten-sen said. And while it is the Junior Jun-ior Chamber of Commerce which sponsors the project, not only in Springville but in all cities in which such organizations exist, . the event should be of general interest. in-terest. The winner of the Distinguished Service award does not have to belong be-long to the Jaycee organization, but must be between the ages of 21 and 35 years. Judging is made by well-known men who take all activities of candidates for the past year into consideration. The same evening the .presentation .presenta-tion of DSA is made, members of the Jaycee club who have done outstanding work in the club are also given awards. Howard Maycock, cashier of the local banking company, will give the address of the evening, and several other fine program numbers num-bers are being arranged. Mr. Mortensen Mor-tensen is being assisted by Wallace Patrick and Clarence Smith. Robert Rob-ert Parker is toastmaster. Those people desiring to attend the annual banquet are asked to contact the committee or other members of the club. Tickets must be secured or reservations made by Monday, January 19. |
