Show "BIG SIX" SEEKS -A RENEWAL OF S TRIKE CONFERENCE NEW YORK, Oct. 6. On the evn of the meeting of employing- printers, which is to he held here tomorrow to discuss the situation Krowfner out of the walkout walk-out of compositors following- the lockout of 10,000 pressmen and feeders, announcement announce-ment was made hy the employers that officials of-ficials of "Big Six" Typographical union had requested another conference. The joint meeting, it was said, would he held some time this week, probably on Wednesday. W. K. McIIugh, vice president of the International Printing: Pressmen's and Assistants' imiun, at the same time was reported in the city endeavoring to get employers to agree to a contract providing provid-ing for a 44 -hour week. Mean wh tie, hundreds of printers in various book and job establishments throughout the city were reported as joining their fellow craftsmen in taking unexpected "vacations" "vaca-tions" and, according to officials of "Big Six," the number was much greater than on any previous day since the trouble trou-ble began. |
