Show 'Female Publicist' Creates Big Stir in the Circus World Emma C. Miller, Advance Agent for Barnes Circus, Tells of Big Show. Wm WILD WOMEN! Emma C. Miller, the "female publicist" in the circus world, first and only of the species, is here exploiting the coming wonders won-ders of the Al. G. Barnes big four-ring wild animal circus, which will exhibit here afternoon and night, Monday, May 13, at Main and Eighth South streets. Emma is not the wild woman it is the stars of the circus that are wild, and they are direct from the Jungles. The Barnes circus, which this former Los Angeles newspaper woman exploits, is primarily an animal show, carrying 1200 wild, semi-wild semi-wild and domestic animals, each one educated to do circus tricks. There are 600 people with the show and 200 of them are seen in the 103-feature act programme pro-gramme putting the animals through theirpaces. Imagine a prima donna tiger doing a stunt or equestrienne lioness roaring forth her delight while juggling 300-pound balancing bars, or some elephantine ele-phantine star doing the latest dancing steps! It is to laugh, but Miss Milder assures us the Barnes animals do things humans do in other circuses, but we are wondering if they are a temperamental lot of stars, and newspapers along the Barnes itinerary speak in the highest praise of this unusual show, while Salt Lake will remember well the excellent performances given two years ago when they showed here. |
