The Brooklyn and Philadelphia teams of the National league will meet in a championship game Sunday, May 5, at Harrison, N. J., and the New York American league team will play a championship game on the following follow-ing Sunday at the same place as a part of an experiment to introduce Sunday baseball in the east and permit patrons of the sport in New York City to witness games on Sunday. This was decided upon tonight at the concluding session of a conference here of B. B. Johnson, president of the American Amer-ican league; John K. Tener, president of the National league; John B. Heydler, secretary sec-retary of the National league, and Barney Bar-ney 4teyfus, president of the Pittsburg National league club, and chairman of the joint schedule committee of the two leagues. Neither President Tener nor President Johnson would discuss the question of possible protests from the International league. "No decision was reached today," President Tjener said at the close of the session. "If there is an invasion of territory, ter-ritory, as claimed by Mr. Lannin, it will be taken care of. by the national commission com-mission at the proper time and in the proper place." I NEvr YORK, May 2. Albert Mamaux. pitcher of the Brooklyn National league i club, left the team today with the announced an-nounced intention of seeking employment in a munitions factory. Mamaux, who had been placed in class 1-A by his local lo-cal draft board, is said to have told President Ebbets it was for the purpose of escaping the draft. Mr. Ebbets said that he had protested |
