Show DOG WAS RABID ONE, BIOLOGIST DECLARES Brute Which Attacked Other Canines Was Victim Vic-tim of Hydrophobia. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, May 2. That the dog which is believed to have bitten about forty other cajjines in the Liberty district before he was killed was afflicted with rabies Is the report made to the sheriff's department depart-ment today by Dr. L. L. Daines, state biologist at the University of Utah, who made an analysis of the dog's head. The dog was owned by David Cook, Jr., of Liberty, according to the report given out at the sheriff's office today. It was killed by James L. Shaw and the head brought to Ogden. Immediately upon the receipt of information infor-mation regarding the dog being afflicted with rabies, the health officers at Eden and Liberty were instructed to notify the owners to tie up the dogs which were believed to have been bitten. The 4-year-old son of Mrs. Taggart of North Ogden was bitten by a dog yesterday yes-terday afternoon. The dog was killed and the head sent to Dr. Daines for an analysis. According to the report given out at the sheriff's office, the dog was lyiifg under a wagon and when the boy came near the dog bit him. It was stated that the dog was not believed to have the rabies, but, to be on the safe side, an analysis will be made and if there Is any trace of ihe rabies the boy will be given the Pasteur treatment. The campaign for the killing of unmuzzled un-muzzled dogs in the city is being carried on by John H. Hughes, dog tax collector, col-lector, who-reported to the city commission com-mission today that during the past week nine dogs running at large on the streets had been killed. In addition to the number num-ber of dogs killed upon the streets, four vicious animals were killed at the request of their owners. |
