Show Athletes of Fifteen High Schools Compete in State Meet Today Pick of Specialists in Various Branches of Sport Entered; Only Division Winners Permitted Under New System; New Marks Likely o Be Hung Up. IGH school athletes from all parts Hof the state are ready to compete In the annual high school track and field meet, which will be held at Cummings field this afternoon. Tommv FlUpa trick, who will act as starter, will sound the first gun at -o'clock. Fifteen schools will compete, as follows: East and West high schools of Salt Lake, Brigham Young university high school, Ogden, Payson, Murdock. L. D. S. U.. Branch Agricultural college, Spanish Fork, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Springville, Lehi and Jordan. Entries for the different events have been arranged by C. Oren Wilson, secretary-treasurer of the Utah State High School Athletic association. Only thse who made a specified time in the division divi-sion meet and came in first or second willy .compete today, so the cream of the etafe will be seen in action. Tills is expected ex-pected to quicken the meet. Other particulars are being cared for by J. H. Griffith of the university. As high scltool day will he hold at the university uni-versity tomorrow, the different athletes will participate in a programme, which includes a tennis match at 10 o'clock and luncheon at 11:30, with a dinner following follow-ing the meet and a dance at S:30. As the Univershity of Utah pays the expenses of many of the competitors, an admission fee of 25 cents will be charged. The meet is under the auspices of the University of Utah. Order of Events. The order of events will be as follows: One hundred - yard dash (elimination heats), mile run, 100-yard dash (finals), 440-yard dash, 220-vard dash (elimination heats), 820-yard hurdles (finals), relay race. At the time the track events are taking place the field men will also be in action. The order of these events will be as follows: Shotput, high jump, broad jump, discus throw, javelin throw and pole vault. , The officials will be: Referee, James Moss; starter, Tommy Fitzpatrick; timers, D. A. Callahan, Eugene Roberts and A. L. Mathews; clerk of course, C. Oren Wilson; field judges, J. H. Griffith. Freeman Bassett, Homer Warner, Haroltl Goodwin, Fred Kline and E. H. Dorman; announcer, J. Belnap; judges of finish. Dr. C. G. Plummer, Joe Jenson and W. E. Day.
