Show ALLEGED SWINDLER PUT BElfl BARS Man Who Victimized Salt Lakers Arrested in Reno, Nevada. After making big hauls in Salt Lake, Oakland and San Francisco, Cal., Roy Churchill, alias John Lucis, has been arrested ar-rested at Reno, Nev., on request of the Oakland officials. I Churchill, who is said to have served a term in an eastern penitentiary, came to Salt Lake on October 10, and, stopping at the Hotel L'tah, gave his name as John j Lucis. a wealthy rancher from Peco, Cal. ! He then deposited at the National Cop-1 Cop-1 per bank a draft for $21,000. After passing pass-ing a few days in pleasure, he then pur- chased from the Smith Diamond shop, , 155 South Main, a diamond ring, giving I in payment a check for $1250 on the Na-; Na-; tional Copper bank. Meanwhile officials of the bank ,had. ! investigated the draft and had found it I to be fictitious. On the jewelry company's com-pany's tendering the check to the bank, it was refused payment. In the meanwhile mean-while Churchill had made his "getaway." Selective Bert Seager was placed on the case, and, alter tracking the man to Reno, found that the Oakland officials had ordered his arrest and taken htm to San Francisco for trial. |
