Show PERSHING PRAISES SALVAGE SERVICE WASHINGTON, Oct. 30. In express-R express-R Ing the gratitude of the American expe-P expe-P dijjonary forces "to the millions of men, women and children in America who are doing without things in order that the war may be more efficiently prosecuted,' (ieneral Pershing today in a cablegram to Secretary McAdoo told of the results being be-ing accomplished by the American military mili-tary salvage plants in France. ."The salvage service is effecting a saving to the government considerably in If excess of $100,000 each day," said Genii Gen-ii end Pershing. "But the saving in money i not the vital part of the work. We aire saving material imperatively needed at the front, material that no expenditure of money can immediately replace. We are directly saving ocean tonnage which is seriously needed every week and in-I in-I airect ly releasing labor for service In shipyards, on railroads and in other essential es-sential industries in the United States." |
