Taylor, secretary sec-retary and assistant general manager of the Amalgamated Sugar company, when h asked tonight regarding the alleged viola-1 viola-1 tion of the food administration orders on 1 furnishing ten thousand pounds of sugar i to the Goddard Packing company ofi Og-ti Og-ti den and Provo, as reported in dispatches from Washington, made the following i statement: J "Through aft error and technicality we s violated an order of the administration in furnishing ten thousand pounds of , sugar to th e G odd ard com p an y . Mr. Goddard stated that ho needed the sugar to conserve thz fruits and other products prod-ucts he had on hand to keep it from i spoiling. He wanted the sugar and said ! he would furnish us with a certificate t from Food Administrator W. W. Arm-I Arm-I strong the next day. The certificate was not delivered the next day and we took the sugar back, and have it now in our warehouses. We thought we were help-! help-! ing the government's conservation plans by helping to save the foodstuffs and did not intentionally violate the law. We were under the impression that Director Armstrong of the food administration forUie state had suspended the sen- W. W. Armstrong, federal food admin- istrator for Utah, when interviewed in H Salt Lake last night, said that Mr. Tay-"i Tay-"i lor's statement is correct in every detail. |
