Show M MAYOR TAKES OVER OFFICE 1001! Commissioners Flygare and ' Jones May Distribute the Patronage. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN. Jan. tl. A new administration, new at least to the extent of the commission commis-sion hear, lakes charge of municipal af-iairs af-iairs In Ogden tomorrow, but those who will make up the board arc perhaps as much in the dark as to the ultimate outcome out-come as the general public. Efforts to organize the new board ceased suddenly stvtral weeks ago, and, so far as known at ll.e present time, no conference is scheduled for t he purpose of perlecting an agreement as 10 the division of departments.. depart-ments.. The old board with Mayor A. 11. Heywood Hey-wood probably will bold Us last meeting at lu o'clock Monday morning. Accord -in? to all appearances there will be no tension of the new board with Mayor T. S. Browning presiding until the hour of the usual Monday evening meeting of the commission. Mayor-elect Browning could not be reached today to ascertain whether he would call a meeting of the new board prior to Monday evening. Thcro appears to be no Indication of Commissioners Chris Flygare and M; L. Jones retreating from their original position posi-tion of dictating the distribution of departments. de-partments. The incoming mayor was assigned as-signed by them to the departments of public affairs and finance and health, Commissioner Jones to retain waterworks and take charge of public safely, now held by Mayor Heywood. Commissioner Fly-are was assigned streets, which he has held heretofore, and to take over parks nnd public property from Commissioner Jones. The arrangement proved unsatisfactory to Mayor-elect Browning, who desired the department of public autety. The incoming executive did not mince words in explaining explain-ing to the other two commissioners that their plan was not to his liking, but they held fast and there the situation has remained re-mained for the past several weeks. Cn-Icss Cn-Icss a peace pact of some sort is entered into by members of the incoming board it is intimated that forthcoming- sessions of I he Ogden commission will be about as peaceful a.s a section of the ' front line trenches in France. It is considered probable that Mayor Browning will accept the department of public affairs and finance, which will give him the appointment of city recorder, city treasurer and city attorney. So far as indicated at this time W. . Critchlow is slated for appointment as recorder to succeed suc-ceed Walter Hichey, and Judge YY. H. Reeder, Jr., as city attorney to succeed 10. T. Hulauiski. There seems to have been nothing approaching a definite understanding un-derstanding with regard to citv treasurer, although Wallace B. Foulger and Alma D. Chambers have been mentioned as candidates candi-dates for the place. Mr. Foulger is a former city treasurer and Mr. Chambers a former county treasurer. |
