Show RECOPvD IS CLAIMED FOR COAL TONNAGE Special to The Tribune. PRICE. Jan. 6. The Kenllworth mine of the Independent Coal Sc. Coke company-is company-is claiming a new record for the state, according to Robert Howard, state coal mine inspector, who was iu Price today after attending the funeral of his brother at Kenihvorth. The mine loaded on cars 1 S31 tons of coal on the last day of the old year. Many of the miners, working on a tonnage basis, made $1.1 and .over for their day's work. Jt is claimed that this is the largest output fur a single mine in a single flay in the history of T.' tah. Mr. Howard's report for the year ending December De-cember 1. will show a tonnage for the state of 4,0:)1,'210, larger than the year previous by half a million tons in spite of the car shortage and the washing out of the railroad last summer. There have been an average of 2-1 34 men working directly at coal production during the year and 32.5 at the coke ovens at Sunny side. In addition nearly 1000 men have been engaged in improvement and development work throughout much of the year at new and old mines. There were twenty-one fatal accidents, a much smaller percentage than usual In proportion propor-tion to the output. The report for the calenda r year will show many thousand tons more than that for the fiscal year. |
