Show LABOR LOYALTY WEEK IIS BEE1KU1E0 Purpose Is to Combat Pro-German Pro-German and Anti-American Propaganda. N'RW YORK", Jan. 6. A proclamation calling for tho observance of a national labor loyalty week in connection with the celebration of Lincoln's birthday, with the additional purpose of "combating the insidious in-sidious forces of pro-German and anti-Amcrlcan anti-Amcrlcan propaganda." was issued today by the American Alliance for Labor and Democracy. Copies were sent to the alliance's al-liance's branches and all central labor bodies affiliated with the American Federation Fed-eration of Labor all over the country. The proclamation was signed by .Samuel Gompors as president of the American Alliance for Labor and Democracy. "Organized workers in communities where there is no local branch of -the American Alliance for Labor and Democracy," Democ-racy," the proclamation stated, "should take upon themselves the duty of arranging arrang-ing mass meetings and demonstrations for loyalty week and particularly on Lincoln's Lin-coln's birthday, to the end that the workers work-ers in such communities may not be deprived de-prived of the inspiration of such demonstrations, demon-strations, and to 1 the further end that branches of the alliance may be organized organ-ized for the permanent work of combating com-bating the insidious forces of pro-German and an ti -American propaganda." Robert Maiael, director of the alliance, declared: "We plan to make this loyalty week demonstration one of the most powerful blows yet dealt at enemy propaganda Bti America." It is planned to distribute during the week millions of pages of loyalty literature and on Lincoln's birthday not less than 500 mass meetings will be held throughout the United States. In some localities, it is expected, there will be continuous demonstrations during the week. |
