Show WRIGLEY BUYS MORE STOCK IN THE CUBS A neat little mystery developed along the Chicago baseball Kialto with the announcement an-nouncement that "William. Wrigley, Jr., had purchased an additional block of stock in the Cubs. The news wras handed hand-ed out through E. T. Konsberg & Co., a brokerage concern, who handled the deal. The brokers refused to take the public pub-lic into their confidence further than to say that Mr. Wrigley was the purchaser. pur-chaser. The amount of the deal and the person or persons from whom tho stock, was secured are not known, as those who handled the deal claimed they were not at liberty to divulge these fact.- In the absence of President Weegh-man, Weegh-man, no one at the National league office of-fice was able to throw any light on the transaction. Efforts to obtain a statement from Mr. Wrigley proved futile. Hints that a reorganization of the board of directors direc-tors was back of the purchase, and that further transactions involving stock in the Cubs were circulated, but lack of confirmation seemed to make them groundless. |
