Show PROGRESS 15 MADE BiJ NEW TUSGARDHA President Craig, Returning From Property, Says District Dis-trict Is Active. Steady progress is heiiiL' made iu the driving of the main tiinnel on the property prop-erty ot' the Xew Tuscarora Mining company, com-pany, located fifty miles north ot Kly, Nev., said William J. Craitf, president of the company, who lias jut returned from an extended vim it to t he mine. The tunnel is now in o4U feet, the face beintf in a hard limestone which forms the footwall of the ore-making dike. The geological formation indicates indi-cates that only a few more shifts will ho required to" bring the miners out of the limestone and into a fissure. About 2"ni) feet of driving will bring the tunnel tun-nel directly under the old shaft, which is the objective of the development. Years ago the workings from this shaft yielded sensational values in gold and silver, but the incoming ot water prevented adequate development of the rich ore bodies. Tho tunnel which the Now Tusearora is driving will not only- drain this shaft, but will afford drainage to all contiguous ground, it .being anticipate! that ultimately ulti-mately much of the water will be used for irrigation purposes on the fertile lands below. Mr. Craig said that he noted much activity in the district generally, the Divide Mining company, the property of which is nine miles west of the New Tusearora, having forty men at work in the installation of" equipment and preparation to begin the shipment of ore. This property is controlled by San Francisco interests. Twenty miles southwest of the New Tuscarora is a big quicksilver property, held largely by tho Davis interests of Salt Lake. Retorts are being installed and one is already in commission, a shipment of ''quick" being scheduled to be on the market by the first of the year. |
