Show 1MRSI0IM PART IBIG MEET Century Event Expected to Bring Fast Bunch Together. All arrangements are completed for the outdoor intermountain swimming championships to be held at Lagoon August 21. Great interest is being shown in the half-mile event, which promises to be one of the fastest races ever held in Utah. Scott Dahlquist, the 220-yard champion, is back from Yellowstone Yel-lowstone park and will compete against N. C. Manley, Eugene Glenn, Bay Cutler, Cut-ler, L. Summerhays and Boy Wood. The 100-yard race will brinjj out the fastest sprinters in the state and will include Jude Burton, Victor Day, Allen Al-len Groesbeck, Balph Schenck, Earl Schenck, Joe Thomas and Harold Price. The novice event, though a new thing to the local competitors, should be of gTeat interest and good time is expected. ex-pected. All swimmers who have never captured a prize will be allowed to start. A large number of entries have already been received by Swimming Instructor Welch, who has charge of the meetr The diving championship will bring out Del Fairbanks, Ray Cutler, George Wood, Boy Wood and W. Tanner. It is hoped by Wrelch that all local divers div-ers will send in their entries for this contest and make it a feature event. Prizes of silver cups and medals will be awarded in each contest, in addition to the championship titles. As the meet is scheduled for Tri-County day, a large crowd iB expected to witness the races. Entries will be received by Welch-at the Deseret gymnasium up to August 21. |
