Show Gffl MilS CO. 10 DRIVE 001 SHAFT Will Sink for Extension of Ophir Hill Consolidated Ore Bodies. For the purpose of developing the extension ex-tension of the ore-bearing beds that ; have been so productive on the Ophir ' Hill Consolidated ground, owned by former Senator V. A. Clark of Montana, the Ophir Mines Development company has been organized. Articles of incorporation incor-poration were filed yesterday. The new company has taken over 187.126 acres of patented grouud, consisting of the McKinley group of claims located in the Ophir district and adjoining the Ophir Hill Consolidated ground. It is the intention of the management of the nexv organization to start in the near future sinking the main shaft. For tho past two weeks engineers have been engaged in surveying the ground with a view to determining the points at which the Miners' Delight and the Wild Delirium fissures enter the McKinley Mc-Kinley group from the Ophir Hill Consolidated Con-solidated ground. The site of the new shaft has been selected and the work of driving it down to the ore-bearing beds in the limestone is to be pushed ahead as rapidly as possible. The McKinley group is bounded on the north by the Ophir Hill Consolidated ground, the productive record of which property to date is approximately $6(o00.(J00, the Montana Consolidated ground on the northwest and the Ophir Queen ground on the northwest. On the east the McKinley group adjoins the property of the Lion Hill company. The same mineral-bearing fissures striking northerly and southerly that traverse the Ophir Hill Consolidated ground traverse that of the new com- Sany and are intersected on the Mc-anley Mc-anley gToup by mineral -bearing fissures fis-sures striking easterly and westerly. The objectives of the various drifts and crosscuts from the main shaft will be these points of intersection in the ore-bearing limestone beds. The company com-pany is financed to carrv on an extensive exten-sive campaign of development work that has been outlined. The facilities f mining and shipping ship-ping are exceptionally good, the railroad rail-road passing within 340 feet of the site of the shaft within a short distance dis-tance of which may be had electric power. The Ophir district iB one of the oldest in the state, a discovery of mineral being made on the Mountain Gem claim in 1364. The rich silver ore discovered on Lion Hill in 1S70 created the camp's -first big excitement. The production of the district up to 1915 amounted to $20,945,000, and among the companies producing at present are the Ophir Hill Consolidated, Lion Hill Consolidated, Buffalo Consolidated, Hidden Hid-den Treasure, Eureka Ophir, Cliff and the Mono Development companies. The Ophir Mines Development com-panv com-panv is capitalized for $50,000, with '500,000 shares, 250,000 shares of which have been issued. A. K. Tiernan is president, S. W. Morrison, vice president; pres-ident; F. T. Roberts, secretarv who, with J. H. Cooke and E, A. ifcBroom form tha directorate. |
