Show WELL-KNOWN COUPLE SURPR1SEFRIENDS Eber F. Piers and Misa Mary Rae Keck Married in Ogden. V Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Aug. 7. Not more than one or two of their friends were made aware of their plans when Ebcr K. 1 Piers, architect, and Miss Mary Rae Keck, deputy in the office of County! Clerk Harry TTales, were quietly mar- I ried at the home or the bride's mother,1 Mrs. Julius A. Smith, 2370 Madison avenue, today. The ceremony was per- i formed at 8 o'clock this morning hy j the Rev. John Rvan. assistant pastor of St- Joseph's Catholic church. ' Miss Keck remained at her desk in the county clerk's office until last1 evening, having arranged to depart to- I dav for her summer vacation. While ; other clerks in the office were given 1 full permission by Miss Keck to no all the guepsiug they might desire. County : Clerk Harry Hales was the only oue in complete possession of the facts, but not until utter he had issued the li- cense at the closing hour last evening. By "special stipulation" the license i was not filed until this morning. Soon aftT the ceremony had been i performed Mr. and Mrs. Piers departed on an east-bound Union Pacific train for Denver. After a brief visit there they will go to hicago and take the Great lakes boat trip to Buffalo. At New York they will board a steamer for the seventeen -dav cruise down the coast, through the Panama canal and up to San Diego to visit the California fairs. They do not expect to return to Ogden for about two months. After eight years of continuous service ser-vice in the county clerk's office, Mrs. Piers, who is regarded as one of the most experienced naturalization clerks in the west, has resigned her position. She was also one of the most popular women employees of the building. Countv Clerk Hales announced today that he had appointed Mrs. Mae Bram-well. Bram-well. an extra clerk for the pa.t year, to fill the vacancy caused by the resig nntion of Mrs. Piers, Another clerk will be employed to complete the list of deputy clerks. |
