Show UTAH GYPSUM 10 BE . PLACED ei MARKET Green River Deposits Will Re Doveloped by Local Company. Patrick Riley, general manager of tho Green River Gypsum company, has been In the city for several days purchasing machinery for the extensive development of tho gypsum deposits located about three miles south of Grcon River, and controlled by himself and associates. Mr. Riley stales that the demands for gypsum gyp-sum are Increasing rapidly slnco tho product Is being used for building purposes, pur-poses, and he Is satisfied that tho Utah material can be placed on tho market at a satisfactory proilt. The deposits aro groat In extent, thore being "whole mountains of It," according to Mr. Riley, Ri-ley, and It Is comparatively easily mined. Near the surface tho material Is quite hard, though It could be mined with steam shovels. It Is said, and at depth It loses Its brlitleness and can bo sawed out or cut out with a knife. Its rcduc-llon rcduc-llon Is simple, heat reducing It to a powder, and Is worth about $20 per ton. Plaster Paris has heretofore been Its prlnclpnl form after reduction, but or Into It Is bolng converted Into building blocks and plaster, especially suitable to the building of partitions, bIHs, etc The. Green River deposits aro to bo extensively ex-tensively devolopcd by Mr. Riley and associates as-sociates this year. |
