Show DUTIFUL SERVICES HELD JTSLII'S Second Anniversary of Dedication Dedica-tion of the Magnificent Cathedral. The seconcP"annlvcrsary of tho dedication dedica-tion of St. Mary's Catholic cathedral was celebrated In tho cathedral yesterday bo-ginning bo-ginning at 0 o'clock In the morning. The day being also the feast of the assumption, mass was celebrated at 7 o'clock In the morning. There was a large attendance and tho anniversary was fittingly observed in every way. The dedicatory services which were held two years ago woro presided over by Cardinal Gibbons, -who came here from Baltimore for the occasion. It was a big event In Die lives of tho Catholic people of Salt Lake City and celebration of Its nnniversnry has been looked forward for-ward to with eagerness. The lit. Rev. Bishop Laurence Scan-Ian Scan-Ian was celebrant of the pontifical high moss and he was assisted by the Bcv. Father W. K. Ryan, doacon; the Rev. Father Daniel Slattery, sub-deacon, and tho Rev. Father W. H. Corcoran, Cor-coran, master of ceremonies. The sermon ser-mon of the day, which was appropriate to the occasion, was dollvered by the Rev. Father Corcoran. He chose as his subject, "The Blessed Virgin." The choir sang Gounod's "Masse Solemnelle," with Miss Margaret Harlcy, soprano soloist, and Mrs. Charles G. Bcatley, contralto soloist. The offertory solo. "Ave Maria," by Glorza, was sung by Miss Eugenia Mercer. The cathedral organ, which was presided over by Miss-Nora Miss-Nora Glenson. was at its best and the entire programme was beautifully rendered. |
