Show MONETARY COMMISSION REPORT. We see that the Senate has adopted tho Cummins 'resolution calling for a report from the Monetary Commission, amending the date when this report must be in to January 8th in place of December 15th, bb Senator Cummins suggested. The' main thing, of course, j is not the particular dato,, but to get the report. The resolution now goeB to the House, and there appears to bo no reason rea-son to expect any opposition there to its adoption. For, Burely, the country is entitled to hear from that commission, although its chairman, Mr. Aldrlch, evidently despaired of tho commission getting together on any report when ho submitted hie own viowB last winter. win-ter. Tho resolution as adopted by tho Senate docs not provide for tho dissolution dis-solution of tho commission. This, howover, ought to go with the. report. Tho resignation of all tho members of tho commission should be submitted a,t the same timo when the report, is made, if 'indcod a report can be made at all, of which there may bo, reasonable doubt, in which caso Janunry 8th ought to sec the commission wiped out, Tt is good to boo, howover, that some progress is being made in getting rid of this usoIcbh and probably ineffective body. |
