Show WILL ELIMINATE SPEEDING IN RELIABILITY CONTEST That tho Brooklyn reliability contest, which is to bo held on .Long Island August Au-gust 9 and 10, will bo a unique affair Is evident from the plans formulated at a recent meeting of the Brooklyn .Motor Vehicle Dealers' association, under whoie auspices It Is to be held. Tho manner of nwardlng the trophies offorcd for the contest has brought out nn Idea that, when put Into practlic, will result In eliminating speeding and will evolve a winner In tho various divisions of the contest section. The plan, which undoubtedly will prove successful, will bo watched closely by motorists because It often has been s.alJ that It is impossible to chock speeding on runs of this kind. There arc five trophies offered for the contest division and two for tho toyi-idt section. There Is a trophy for each ol the following divisions in tho contest suction: suc-tion: 1A. for cars selling for 5800 and under; 2A, for cars soiling for ?S01 lo JlL'00, and 3A, for cars selling for $1201 to SI GOO. In divisions 4 A, 5 A. GA and 7A there is a trophy for touring cars and one for runabouts. There aro two prizes, first and second, In the tourist section. In order that a winner be evolved In the several divisions of the contost section it was decided that the participants com pete In a manner similar to that to be used In tho tourist section. In brief, the plan Is that the contestants will compete on a time schedule fixed by the contest committee boforo the start. Hidden controls will be established at several points along tho routo and only TCefcrce A. R. Pardlngton will know their location. The lime that easn car passes a secret station will be rocorde.l and It will be this time that will prove the winner. win-ner. In addition to being chocked in at tho hidden controls, cars will be checked, also, at the noon and night controls. Contestants In tho contest must comply com-ply with the A. A. A. rul2J. while those In the tourist section can do practically what they please so far as making repairs,' re-pairs,' stopping nnd taking on fuel J. concerned, con-cerned, but they must cover tho entire course. The secret checking stations will help greatly to eliminate speeding, as drivers will not take chances of losing a prize by driving too fast or recklessly.
