Show POSSIBLE PLANS OF THE SHOSHONE COMPANY The enlargement of the Montgomery Shoshone mill at Rhyolito for tho treatment treat-ment of Tonopah Extension ores is again being considered by the Schwab interests. While definite plans havo not been announced, it is understood that the scheme is to install twenty-five twenty-five stamps and additional cyanido tanks and equipment, all to bo housed in tho largo structuro on tho hill, says tho Rhyolite Ilorald. General Manager Kirchcn. who is i" active charge of both tho Shoshone and Extension properties, stated to tho Herald that the enlargement of tho mill is being considered seriously, but that complete plans had not been decided de-cided upon. Recommendations have been made to tho directors, however, for certain changes at the Shoshono mill, and as soon as these improvements havo boon accomplished, tho increasing of the capacity will bo taken up. The Shoshone is continuing its usual production, with two shifts in tho mill and three shifts on the cyanide ond of the plant. The Tonopah Miner, commenting upon tho Extension, says in its latest issue: Notwithstanding tho pessimistic reports re-ports being circulated- bv a coterio of brokers, the condition of tho Tonopah Extension mine shows continued improvement im-provement as work progresses. Tho ore bodies being developed on the 550 and 000-foot levels west of the shaft are largo and well defined, aud are capable of yielding an immense tonnage, ton-nage, though tho extraction is limited owing to tho large amount of development develop-ment work being done. On account of an unusual amount of gas, work in tho west drift on the 000-foot level has been temporarily suspended. Within a short timo throe raises will be sent up from this levol to connect with tho 500. This work will bo done both for mining and ventilation purposes, and will bo sent upon ore, as tho vein has been proved up ou tho 500, 550 and 600 levels. Tho vein in tho east drift on tho 000-foofc level shows continual improvement, tho ledges being stronger and wider in tho face than at any time yet. The west crosscut, which was started about 200 feet east of tho east drift on the (iOO-foot level, has made connection with that drift, and will save considerable labor in runuiu" tho oro from the drift to the shaft, as well as vastly improving tho air in thoso workings. The lodge in the back of tho stopes from the 550-foot level continues con-tinues to yield a quantity of high-grade high-grade ore, and shows up jusl as strong as ever. A north crosscut has been started from the shaft at tho 770-font level and is now out over fifty feet, making a progress of about 200 feet a month. i |
