Show Floor Reduction Brings Trouble Smaller Millers Declare It Impossible Impossi-ble to Meet New Prico Fixed by Exchange. When a majority of members of tho Flour and Grain Merchants' exchange voted to reduce the prico of all grades of Hour 20 cents, they llttlo thought the i troublo their action would bring nbout-This nbout-This reduction wns mado nt the regular meeting held a week ago yesterday and protests against tho action have been heard ever since. Somo of tho smaller millers claim that It Is impossible for them to meet tho reduction and they havo refused to sell flour at prices llxed by the exchange. No definite action to either raise or lower prices was taken by tho exchango at their regular meeting yesterday, but It was Intimated by somo of tho members after tho days' proceedings wero over that there Is likely to be somothlng lively doing In tho flour market within tho next few days. Threats of still further reductions reduc-tions havo been made by somo of thc larger dealers, as It has been known to them for some tlmo that members of the exchange were not selling products at prices made by the exchange. This was one of the chief reasons for reducing tho prico of flour nt all, and now some of those who are known to havo undersold other members of the exchange nre Indignant Indig-nant because of reductions mado. Prices of all oilier products were allowed al-lowed to remain as heretofore. Business Is still reported dull with dealers In Hour and grain and no great change Is looked for for several weeks. |
