Show DEPOSED PRIEST GIVES UP. Dr. Irvine Drops All Proceedings Against Bishop Talbot. PHILADELPHIA, Jan. SI. Rov. I. N. W. Irvine, the deposed rector, today Issued Is-sued a statement announcing that he had given up the fight against Bishop Ethcl-bert Ethcl-bert Talbot. Dr. Irvine says he will drop all proceedings pro-ceedings against Bishop Talbot, both ecclesiastical" ec-clesiastical" and logal. Ho says that ho Is actuated by a desire to prevent further fur-ther scandal to tho Episcopal church. Dr. Irvine reviews tho controversy with tho bishop at length and enumerates a number of facts not heretofore given publicity. pub-licity. Ho charges that money and Influence In-fluence woro used by Bishop Talbot to block his efforts to bring the caso before be-fore an ecclesiastical court. In deciding to proceed no furthor, ho says: "I do not know what else can bo dono with Bishop Talbot, who has brought such a scandal upon tho church and such a scandal upon others, but to forgive him; and I herewith freely and without reservation res-ervation offer him a full and free pardon, ns If wo were standing on the last grent day before the Judgment throne of Josus Christ, our eternal God." |
