Show By DAVE WIGHAM BOUNTIFUL Davis High soccer team continued its winning ways this past week as the Darts came up with three wins in league action to stay on top of Region Four. Elsewhere Bountiful won three games, Woods Cross a couple and a tie and Viewmont a win, a loss and a tie. UP IN Region One things were thrown into a mess with the play of Layton and Clearfield Clear-field who caused problems for the leaders. It is mentioned this week that the Davis club, by virtue of their unblemished record in league action, are the top rated 3A team in the state thus far. Bountiful is close with Viewmont View-mont and Woods Cross near the number five and six spots. DAVIS CAME up winners this past week over Bonneville 6-0, then over Weber 4-2 and finally over Layton 2-1. This gave the Darts a 6-0 league record re-cord well ahead of second place Logan. Layton on the week handed Weber a 3-2 setback, then lost to Clearfield 3-1 and then they dropped a 2-1 contest to the Darts. This ran their record to 4-2 on the year. Clearfield meanwhiile climbed back into the win column with that 3-1 win over Layton. The Falcons then lost 5-3 against Weber. THIS LEFT Region One in a three way race between Bonneville, Bon-neville, Layton and Weber with Roy and Clearfield right behind them. Bountiful took control of Region Five with their three wins this past week as the league took advantage of good weather to make up games. The Braves defeated Highland 2-1 , then Cyprus 5-0 and finally easily downed West 9-1. WOODS CROSS stayed close to the Bountiful club in the standings as they downed Highland 2-0, then beat West 2-1 and then finished with a 2-2 tie with Viewmont. The Vikings stayed in third ' place in the league with a 7-0 win over Cyprus, the 2-2 tie with Woods Cross and then they lost 1-0 to Highland. Viewmont is still a full game behind the other clubs since their game with South did not count. THUS FAR in Region Five the Bountiful team has a 5-0-1 record for 1 1 points from the six games. Woods Cross has a 4-1-2 record for 10 points from seven games. The Vikings are two games behind the Wildcats and one behind the Braves. A team earns two points for a win and one for a tie. |
