MAS information assign-Kit assign-Kit has taken the lead in the establishment and operation opera-tion of many of the far-flung visitors centers of the church. These visitors centers are established es-tablished at most of the important im-portant historic sites of the church and at the various temples including the famed Temple Square in Salt Lake City, all temples in the United States and those in England, Switzerland and New Zealand. As a former newspaper reporter and editor and through his writings and sermons ser-mons since becoming one of the General Authorities, Elder Petersen has made an extensive literary contribution contribu-tion to the church. HIS MANY published editorials edi-torials and nearly a score of books he has authored have established a reputation of understanding and forthright counseling on the issues of the day and exorting members of the church, particularly the youth, to faithful adherence to the gospel principles and righteous living. ELDER Petersen started his newspaper career in the mid-1920s as a reporter for the D seret News, t,.e church-owned newspaper in Salt Lake City. He advanced through the ranks to become editor, general manager and later president of the Deseret News Publishing Co. During more than three decades as a church official he has traveled widely throughout the world visiting missions and stakes. In the mid-1960s he presided over the West European Mission of the church with headquarters in London. |
