Show 14 Year Old Pleads Guilty FARMINGTON - A 14-year-old Sunset girl who led Davis County and Salt Lake City police on a wild chase before the mobile home she was driving collided with a utility pole has pleaded guilty to four traffic charges. THE GIRL pleaded guilty to joy riding, destruction of property, reckless driving and failure to stop at the command of a police officer. The joy riding charge, according ac-cording to a representative of First District Juvenile Court, Farmington, was a reduction from the original, more serious charge, of vehicle theft. ', COURT Probation Officer , Garrett Watkins said the girl h was ordered to pay $75 resti- r tution and complete 75 hours of work for a local govern- ment. ; In addition, the girl was ordered to continue mental l health treatment and was t- given a suspended sentence to the Youth Development Center. The latter, according to Mr. Watkins, means that if she is convicted of any other violation it will mean manda- t tory incarceration at the f center. THE GIRL, who will remain unidentified, was J driver of the mobile home T that led Davis County and Salt T Lake City law enforcement officers on a wild chase 4- through Davis County and to 300 West South Temple when the chase came to an er when the mobile hon, slammed into a utility pole, T injuring the driver and two J teenaged female passengers. During the chase, the . mobile home reportedly sideswiped several parked cars and forced other vehicles, including a loaded cement truck, off the road. J A NORTH Salt Lake police officer, in pursuit of the flee- ing vehicle, rolled his car at the Beck Street exit of Inters- tate Highway 15. The officer received only minor injuries but the police car was J demolished.. The two girl passengers in 4. the mobile home, who also reside in Sunset, were 4 scheduled to appear in First District Juvenile Court Wed- nesday, Oct. 24, to face charges of theft of a vehicle J and destruction of property. |
