Show Out Of State Travel Gets Paring From Board Of Education FARMINGTON - Dreams by some students of trips to exotic-sounding places like Hawaii and Mexico were dashed in recent action by the Davis County Board of Education. THE BOARD denied travel requests by Bountiful High School's choral and orchestral orches-tral departments to Mexico City and its band to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. At the same time, requests for a Mexico City trip by the Davis High School a'cappela choir were denied. Two Viewmont requests, one by the concert choir to Oahu, Hawaii and the dance company to Los Angeles were also denied. At the same time, other requests for trips in the region were approved. The board followed existing policy in denying the distant trips. That recommends travel allowances to places in the "proximity of neighboring neighbor-ing stales andor the western states." APPROVED TRIPS included three for Bountiful High: Speech department to Tempe, Ariz, in February; baseball team to St. George in March and drill team to Santa Monica, Calif., in February. The Clearfield High orchestra was given the gcv ahead for a trip to Twin Falls, Ida., in April while Davis approvals included trips to Tempe by the symphony orchestra and band in May and forensics in February. Layton High's choir, orchestra and Laytones were given the okay for a trip to San Diego, Calif., in May and the drill team was okayed for a February trip to Santa Monica. THREE TRIPS were approved for Viewmont High including a Denver trip for the band, jazz band and orchestra in April; drill team trip to Idaho Falls, Idaho, fn April and trip to Tempe for the debate team in February. Woods Cross saw approval for three trips including fhe debate team to Tempe; m February, basketballi'io Pocatello, Idaho, - in December and wrestling team to Burley, Idaho, also in December.
