Show SPLIT IN RANKS OF UTAH DEMOCRATS ' AVERTED AT MEET SALT LAKE, April 25. A split in tho ranks of tho Utah Democratic Demo-cratic party was avorted at a state committee meeting here early todaf when William O. Wallace, state chairman, and C. C. Richards, Rich-ards, elected chairman bf a minority mi-nority vote at a "rump" meeting meet-ing hold early last evening, both tendered their resignations. Matt Thomas, of Salt Lake, was appointed ap-pointed temporary chairman and will act in that capacity until the state convention, at which dclo-, dclo-, gates will be chosen to tho national na-tional convention at San Francisco. Fran-cisco. Mr. Thomas took the temporary tem-porary chairmanship with tho stipulation that ho would call the state convention within the next thirty days and at that time a new chairman would be named. Heated discussion was carried on throughout tho meeting and It was after midnight before action was taken. Mr. Thomas Is federal prohibition enforcement officer for Utah. |
