Show i: Brigham Society BRIGHAM, April 25. The Central Camps of the Daughters of the Pioneers met Monday cvoning at the home of Mrs Ida K. Lee, who Is honorary hon-orary president of the organization. After the regular business meeting the remainder of the evening was spent In a social manner. Mrs. Elizabeth H. Wright and Mrs. Amelia H. Wrighc entertained the ladies with several old time songs and many incidents were recalled of early experiences in the organization. Mrs. Leo was presented with a silver card tray as a token of appreciation for the work she accomplished accom-plished during her term of office. Dainty refreshments were served at the close of tho evening. Those present pres-ent were: Mesdames Jane E. Comp-lon, Comp-lon, Lydia W. Forsgren, Amelia H. Wright, Elizabeth H. Wright Lucy P. Holton, Olive B. Hanson Orplia H. Stohl, Claunda P. Beccher, Lottie M. Simonsen and Rachel Evans. A meeting of the executive council of the Boxelder High School Alumni association was held Tuesday evening at tho library. It was decided to hold the alumni banquet and danco at the high school Saturday evening, May 15. Invitations for this affair wjll be sent out immediately to all alumni membors. mem-bors. Miss Estelle Jensen presented her pupil, Misa Lucile Bllling3 in a pianoforte piano-forte recital at the high school assembly assem-bly Monday evening. A large crowd attended and hearty applause greeted Miss Billings, whose playing was excellent ex-cellent She was assisted in the entertainment en-tertainment by Miss Lotta Petty, who gavo some fancy dances in costume. Miss Crystal Jeppson presented her advanced pupils in a piano recital at the Third ward chapel Monday evening. eve-ning. Wonderful skill was shown' by those taking part and pieces by the) world's most famous composers were rendered. Excellent technique was shown by the pupils under Miss Jepp-3on's Jepp-3on's instruction. Many out-of-town guests were present, besides those from Brigham. The young ladies taking tak-ing part were: Miss Vera Dewey, Miss Margaret Egger, Miss Fay Stone and Miss Blanche Hunsaker. Mrs.; Orson Hudson ontertaine:d informally in-formally at her home Thursday eve ning Progressive "500" was enjoyed after which a dainty luncheon was served. Those present were Messrs and Mesdames LeRoy B. Young, George M. Fister. C. H. Brvan, W. H. Gleave. W. L. Hoist, J. E. Ryan. VS. I. Hargis, and Dr. E. A. Weymuller. v Miss Myrtle Dunn entertained at her home Wednesday evening. Progressive Progres-sive "500" was enjoyed and prizes for high and low scores were won by Miss Grace Forsgron and Bervard Nichols. The rooms wore decorated with pink sweet peas. A two-course luncheon was served at the close of the evening. The guests were Miss Graco Forsgren. Gwonlvere Kotter, Miriam Evans, Messrs La Mont Glover, Bervard Nich-ols, Nich-ols, De Von Neilson and Franklin Peterson. . A parcel shower was given Tuesday evening in honor of Mrs. Fred Jensen, formerly Miss Chlolettn Wilson, al the home of Mrs. Lane Thompson, with Miss Anna Jenson, Miss iseil Jensen and Mrs. W. C Walker acting as hostesses. host-esses. Social gamos were enjoyed during dur-ing the evening and many beautiful presents were received by the young bride. At tho close of the evening a light luncheon was served. Those present besides the guest of honor, were: Mesdames Zlna Jensen, Lana Thompson, R. Laneville, Leona Prultt, Eliza Stokes. Leo Johnson, Joseph Jos-ephson, Jos-ephson, Brigham Jensen, Kenneth Jensen, Jen-sen, K. S. Jensen, L. F. Jenson, Ellas Jensen. Hyrum Jensen Arthur Munns, Eugene Crompton, Thomas Crompton, La Von Daily of Logan; Miss Le Ora Cheal, Lucile Forrest, Hazel Jensen and Sarah Mathias. The Seagull camp of tho Daughters of the Pioneers met Wednesday evening eve-ning at the homo of Mrs. A. N. Grover. Roses and carnations were used in decorating the living room, while the dining room was adorned with pink sweet peas and poppies, .urs Lena Jensen was guest of honor for the evening, eve-ning, and a sketch of her life was read by her daughter, Mrs. L. J. Anderson. A solo was rendered by Mis Warda Jensen and a piano selection by Miss Crystal Jeppson. Remarks were given by Mrs. Orpha H. Stohl and Mrs. Stella Stel-la Phillips, followed by a short talk on the pioneers by Mrs. Ella B. Valentine. After a social hour dainty refreshments refresh-ments were served by the hostess, as sisted by Mrs. Ella Reeder and Mrs. F. A. Vinvent. Guests present were Mrs. Lena Jensen, guest of Jionor; Mrs. L. J. Anderson, Mrs. C. W. Knud-son, Knud-son, Mrs. Roy Peterson, Mrs. Lurenda Beechor, Mrs. Sophia Beecher, Mrs. Joseph A. West, Mrs. B. G. Knott, Mrs. C. B. Baker, Miss Eliza Thompson, Miss Selvena Madson, and Miss Warda Jensen. There were twenty-one members mem-bers present A sumptuous banquet was held on Thursday afternoon by the Sunflower and Beehive camps of the Daughters of tho Pioneers, in honor of all the pioneers and old people residing the First ward. At 3 o'clock the following program was rendered: Reading, Mrs. Fanny Christensen; duet, Mrs. Rllla Spencer and Mrs. Mary Farmer; cornet cor-net solo, John Forrest; step dance in fancy costume, Jonah M. Clark, accompanied ac-companied by Mr. Commbs, Mrs. Spencer and Mr. Forrest; quartet, Mr. Wm. Dredge, Mrs. Spencer, Mrs. Farmer and Mr. Fuller; solo, Mr. Ed. Lee; fancy costume dance, Miss Lottie Lot-tie Hart, and a eong by Mr. and Mrs. Greenbalgh, who aro both over ninety years of age. Following tho program an elaborate dinner was served. Tho tables were beautifully decorated with bright colored col-ored spring flowers and loaded with tempting dishes. Dancing was enjoyed en-joyed by the old people during the remainder of the afternoon. About sixty persons were present and a very enjoyable afternoon was snent. The Kindergarten club met Thursday Thurs-day afternoon at the home of Mrs. Wynn L. Eddy. After a piano selection by Miss Smith, a general business meeting was held. Mrs. R. T. Willcy gave a book review, the subjoct being child training. This was followed by an open dlscucs.on of the points made. Mrs. W. V. Call gavo a report on the series of dances being held by the club at the Academy of Music. The last of these series will be held next Wednesday evening In connection with the regular Wednesday night dance. The advisability of repeating the high school play in order to raise funds for" the children's- playgrounds was reached,. Mrs. Meivin Olson be-camo be-camo a- how momber of tho club. About twerity - others members were presents, The Stake "Mutual board entertained Friday evening at 'the High school in honor of the 'retiring officers of the 3- organization, namely. Miss Florence' Lee and Mrs. Winnie HolsL An Invitation In-vitation from the board was extented to all Mutual workers in this stake, including tho young Men's association and about ono thousand persons were present. At S o'clock a program was held in the assembly hall and each Mutual was represented on tho program. pro-gram. The First ward furnished a trio, the Second ward a quartet, tho Third ward a reading, the Fourth ward a reading, Harper a violin solo, Hon-eyville Hon-eyville a chorus composed of twelve young ladies. Wiliard a quartet and sentiments from Perry, Corrinne and Mantua. At the close of the program Miss Thompson and Miss Madson wore each presented with a cameo pin, while Miss Lee and Mrs. Hoist were presented each with a set of books as a token of love and appreciation from their co-workers for tho work which they had done In the organization. organiza-tion. Following this the entire party retired to tne gymnasium, where mu sic was furnished for dancing by the High school orchestra. jight refreshment refresh-ment were served during the' evening. Miss ( pal Knudson. who is attending attend-ing the University, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and .Mrs, O. W. Knudson. The Popp Drive, held in Brigham last Saturday for the benefit of the war orphans of France, was heartily supported and proved a great success. About twenty young ladies from the High school started on their campaign oarly in tne morning and few peopl? during the day escaped their attack A house to house canvass was made, besides a thorough canvass of the business bus-iness section. The children especially were enthusiastic and eagerly gave up their spending money and extra pennies pen-nies for tho cause. All the districts have not yet been "heard from, but, it is assured that Box Elder county will go over the top and pass her quota of $350. Mrs. Joseph Bott entertained her social club Friday afternoon. The ladies spent a pleasant time in social chat and sewing and at 6 o'clock the gentlemen arrived and a hot supper was served. The dining table had as a centerpiece pink cut-flowers in a crys tal vase. Covers were laid for thirty-one thirty-one guests. Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Bryan were dinner din-ner guests at tho home of Mr. -and Mrs. W. J. Lowe Saturday evening. oo |
