Show I RELIABILITY CONTEST RULES I A TWENTY-FIVE DAYS' BUM 11 ; Rules for tho first national motor j Jruck reliability contest have been compiled -with the idea of permitting tl fair determination of relativo truck performance values. On arrival at Omaha, 'the technical committee will go over p.hem, and at the close of the 2.50U jmile run, which is to be made in twen-jty.fivo twen-jty.fivo days, the committee will again ;go over them. ? Penalties will be set against a truck i ,vhich shows marked variation be tween the two examinations The ; contest is designed to demonstrate the j ppeed and reliability of pneumatic- tired trucks up to and including the J3 '-ton class. 5 i The contest is limited to pneumatic- tired trucks. Speed will be graduated, according to the size of the trucks, by classes. Road conditions of the day's run will be taken into consideration in setting the speed. The figures will be fair and reasonable to all. Penalties will be by points. These will be assessed against a truck for being late at noon and night controls, for work1 done on the truck by the driver or anyone else and for mechanical mechani-cal defects as determined by tho technical tech-nical examinations before and after the contest Each entrant will name an observer for each truck entered. This observer may be connected with tho maker or maybe a distributor for the truck represented. rep-resented. Tho observer will ride on a different truck each day and will make report daily to. tho officials of the truck he rode upon. This will cover the performance of the truck and the conduct of the driver. Makers will bo allowed to name their sales representative repre-sentative as observer It is proposed to start ther un May 31 or June . but this may be delayed when the pathfinder path-finder has gone over the route in May. |
