JOSEPH'S SEWING CLUB Mrs. Condo will, act as hostess to the ladles of St. Joseph's Sewing society so-ciety next Thursday, March 19, in the church parlors. , MACDOWELL EVENING Friday evening" at the Studio of Miss Ellen Thomas her pupils met in their monthly composers' class taking tak-ing up the life and music of Ed. A. MacDowell who Is not only America's Amer-ica's greatest composer, but is, as our musical critic Henderson says, on a level with the musicians owned by the world. A very instructive and pleasant evening eve-ning was had in following MacDowell through his studying and composing, also in hearing some of his compositions. composi-tions. ACORN DANCING PARTY In the Weber academy .auditorium last evening about one hundred couples cou-ples were present at the Acorn dancing danc-ing party, one of the nicely planned affairs of the week. A sixteen piece" orchestra furnished music for a program of twenty dances. The decorative scheme was carried out in acorns and shamrocks. 'From corners of the balcony where tho orchestra or-chestra was stationed large imitation acorns were effectively hung, while streamers of miniature acorns and shamrocks wcre strung .along the .sides and south end of the hall. A pretty feature was the lattice work punch booth In form of a shamrock. Small acorns were pinned on the table ta-ble cloth and fruit punch was nicely served. Upon entering the hall each young lady was given a shamrock and a green hat was presented each gentleman. gen-tleman. Dancing was enjoyed until 12 o'clock. KENSINGTON HELD In the parlors of the First Presbyterian Pres-byterian church yesterday afternoon the monthly Kensington given by the Missionary society was held, with Mesdames Roberts, Felitz, Horn, Wallace Blackington and J. 12.. Carver as hostesses. Mesdames Scrlbner and Gibson had charge of the program. ST. AT THE THIRD WARD Tuesday, St, Patrick's day, at 2 p. m., begins an afternoon and evening of pleasure in the Third ward amusement amuse-ment hall. Under the auspices of tho Ward Relief society ladles a program of music and rec(tation will start at 2 o'clock followed by service of delicious de-licious refreshments. In the evening even-ing a dancing party has been planned plan-ned to which members of the ward and their friends have been Invited. An orchestra has been engaged to furnish good dance music, MRS. CARL RASMUSSEN HOSTESS Looking backward, one of the pretty pret-ty affairs of the month was given by Mrs. Carl Rasmussen last Saturday evening, when she entertained the ladles of the Social Twelve club and their husbands at her home on Madison Madi-son avenue. Five Hundred was the diversion and prizes' were won by Mrs. Carl Allison and Mr. Curtis Allison. Al-lison. Daintily prepared refreshments were nicely served by- the hostess. PRESTON VISITORS Dr. and Mrs. C. A. Canficld are in Ogden for a few days, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Flygare. FOR MISS COBURN Mrs, Lewis J. Read and Mrs. Preston Pres-ton Badger entertained Friday evening even-ing at the home of Mrs. Read, 1124 Washington avenue, at a parcel shower, show-er, In honor of Miss Abble Coburn, a March bride-to-be.
