Show ,. II Superintendent J. M. Mills of the city schools last night suggested to the board of education, the making of a survey of, education- in the Og-j den city schools.. The plan, included an extension of the survey to other I educational system in the state, whose directors feel that ihcy are facing problems that they desire to have solved. The suggestion was thoroughly discussed by the board members and met with favorable consideration, con-sideration, the board finally deciding to hold a special meeting next Tuesday Tues-day and go to Salt Lake to talk over the subject with tho normal schooi faculty. Their talk with the normal school faculty will be to ascertain If they can suggest the names of two or three educators who could act as a competent hoard to make the survey. sur-vey. In giving his opinion on the matter, mat-ter, President Hyrum Pingreo said: "There is just so much kicking about the schools of Ogden, that I would be willing to give my entiro r.,, i i . u -i I i i Illl 1' year's salary back to the district to ! have this survey made." ! Directors Glen and Levedahl also j indicated that they would give finan-j cial assistance to the project and Su-perlntendent Su-perlntendent Mills' said that he would contribute an amount equal to thai given by the board members. Mr. Mills stated that he thought that it would cost $1000 or more to carry out the plan properly and to get educators of, national repute for the work. Director Wade Johnson favored getting Utah educators, if possible, to make the survey, suggesting that faculty members of the University ot Utah might be called in for the purpose. pur-pose. Another suggestion made was to have the survey board appointed by United States Commissioner P, T. Claxton. Superintendent Mills also presented present-ed a report of his trip to the national superintendents' convention at Richmond, Rich-mond, Va., and of visits to other cities. oo |
