Show Visitors increasing at historic Temple Square More visitors came to Historic Temple Square in Salt Lake City this past summer than in any previous pre-vious year, according to figures released re-leased today by the Temple Square Mission Presidency. During the months of June, July and August 1 ,372,539 visitors came to the historic square which has become Utah's number one tourist attraction. Visitors came from nearly every foreign country although the largest number came from the United States. With the increase in visitors and the change in the number of tours made available to the guests, it became be-came necessary to increase the number of volunteer hosts and hostesses. hos-tesses. Now approximately 1,500 hosts, hostesses and guides give of their time to serve at Temple Square, conducting tours and providing pro-viding information to the visitors. Quig Nielsen of Bountiful has recently re-cently been called to serve as manager man-ager of public relations at Temple Square with his wife, LaVon, as his assistant. Serving at the Square in posi- tions of leadership from the Bountiful, Boun-tiful, Centerville and Farmington areas are the following: supervisor of all counter personnel, Carolyn Stuart of Bountiful; day supervisors, super-visors, Don Gold of Centerville and Deon Stuart of Bountiful; group leaders, Arden Hinton, Glen Gold, Morris Christiansen, Ariel Smith and Tess Williams of Bountiful; Bounti-ful; assistant group leaders, Steven Howard of Woods Cross; Joyce West, Clyde Hansen, Bud Porter, Ralph Olsen, Rayson Naisbitt, Lamont Fowler and Gary Moore of Bountiful. Personnel Development specialists special-ists are Dale E. Roe, Frankie Christiansen, Juanita Newsome, Stephen G. Hale and Ferrel Thomas Tho-mas of Bountiful, and Karen B. Smith of Centerville. Volunteer workers with specialized special-ized assignments in public relations rela-tions at the Square are Helen Noble, No-ble, Shirley Murdock and Patricia Draper of Centerville and Carol Toller of Bountiful. Currently 169 volunteers are from Bountiful, 26 from Centerville Centervil-le and 20 from Farmington. Other south Davis communities with volunteers are North Salt Lake, Woods Cross and West Bountiful. |
