Show Helpline for seniors ready A "Senior Helpline," which gives senior citizens access to more than 100 important and inspirational in-spirational messages is available through a toll-free service from Brigham Young University's Gerontology Resource Center. A touch-tone telephone makes the system operational from anywhere any-where in the United States, 24 hours a day, by dialing 1-800-333-AGED. For those without touch-tone touch-tone phones, the system is available avail-able during hours when an operator is on duty, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Mountain Time) Monday through Friday. A free directory of listings can be obtained by calling the Helpline number from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ana requesting it through the operator. The service offers a variety of messages, prepared by experts, on topics such as family life, care-giving, care-giving, health and fitness and living a happy life. It includes inspirational inspiration-al messages from Richard L. Evans' "The Spoken Word." The Senior Helpline uses the same touch-tone phone technology that runs the BYU registration sys-tem. sys-tem. A computerized voice answers the call and tells when to dial a three-number sequence to activate a system message. |
