Show Military academy nominations sought by Hatch It's easy to just sit idly by and complain, or, do nothing at all!! If you have something on your mind, write a letter to the editor! Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, is looking for people between the ages of 17 and 21 who have a desire to attend one of the nation's four U.S. military academies. "These young men and women need to file an application with my Salt Lake office by Nov. 1 , for the classes entering the July 1988 school year," said Hatch. The academies are: the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York; U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; and the U.S. Merchant Mer-chant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York. "These are all top notch educational institutions which have turned out many of this country's finest leaders," Hatch concluded. All four academies require a congressional con-gressional nomination before a student stu-dent can enter. The Coast Guard Academy, however, does not have that requirement. Students may apply directly to the academy. Applicants must be residents of Utah in order to receive a nomination nomina-tion from Senator Hatch. Applications will be accepted at 125 South State Street, room 3438, Salt Lake City, Utah 84138, through Nov. 1. For more information call Senator Sena-tor Hatch's office at 524-4380. |
