Show MONEY MYTHS By Or. Oswald Hoffmann Lutheran Hour Speaker To talk about all the myths about motley would probably fill a whole library shelf, so Sc let's cont'entraU' on some of f frft the more prevalent myths we 'iii all have heard. ! W MoneY talks but not always al-ways in the way people i think. You've m lult heard people peo-ple say that "Money is the root of all evil." People who circulate that myth have actually ac-tually misquoted the Bible. What the Kiblc actually says is recorded in 1 Timothy 6:10 "The I.uve of money is a rout of all evil." That's quite a different dif-ferent story. Having or nut having money is not the source .of evil. The problem comes when money becomes something you love. Another myth worth ex- j amininn is "Lack of money is a virtue." This is a com- ?V.' mon myth you rarely hear spoken out loud. There really i1 is no virtue in hi'inn poor. ..or in hcinn rich. What's inipor- j tant is priorities. Virtue .'4 comes neither from a lack of f money nor from having an i abundance of it. What is im- ICm portant is to put God first. I To trust in Him. I |
