Show Seminar For Parents Set Nov. 1 "Meeting the Challenges of Today." To-day." a seminar for parents, will be presented Thursday. Nov. I. The event will be held in the Little Theatre at Viewmont Hiuh School. 120 W. 1 0th N.. Bountiful. It will begin at 7 p.m. and a SI fee will be collected at the door. DI RIM; THK evening three individual in-dividual workshops are to be presented pre-sented and participants will have an opportunity to attend two. Topics to be discussed are "Super Dad: Myth or Reality." "The District's Dis-trict's Policy concerning Assertive Discipline" and "Pie-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)." These parenting helps are being sponsored by PTA units from the Southern part of the county and the Davis School District's Parent Education Resource Center. "SUPER DAD: Myth or Reality." Real-ity." will be presented by Austin Child. Ph.D. He is a psychologist with Davis County Mental Health. In the past he has served as ajuve-nile ajuve-nile court consultant. He specializes special-izes in working with youth and families and is an interested father. Currently Dr. Child consults with youth groups in local high schools. Larry Smith. Ph.D. and David Turner M.S. will discuss the Davis School District's policy concerning. concern-ing. "Assertive Discipline." which is currently being implimenteu in many of the district's schools. DR. SMITH is currently the director of the Davis Learning Center, a school for behaviorally handicapped youth. He brings with him much experience dealing with troubled youth. He serves on the board of directors for Davis County Coun-ty Mental Health and does marriage mar-riage counseling and testing with that agency. Mr. Turner holds a MS degree from the Utah State University and is certified in special education and behavioral disorders. He currently serves as a teacher at the Davis Learning Center and acts as an assertive discipline trainer and consultant for elementary and junior high schools in the district. DUSCUSSING Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)." will be Patti Cannon. Mrs. Cannon is well known for her pioneering work concerning PMS. A pre-menstrual syndrome victim herself, she sear- ched for answers to the many questions ques-tions and dilemmas she faced. Her work in the field has led to the founding of the Utah PMS Center, Cen-ter, organization dedicated not only to diagnosis and treatment of the syndrome but also in increasing public awareness and knowledge of the problem.
