Show Car Seats Available For Rent FARM INGTON -- The motor vehicle accident is the most serious danger faced by young children in this country. Once a child is past the first critical weeks of life, injuries in-juries suffered while riding in cars are responsible for the deaths of more young children than any disease dis-ease or other type of accident. EACH YKAR in the United States almost 70.000 children under five years of age are reported as injured in motor vehicle incidents inci-dents while riding as passengers: another 700 children are killed. Surveys in emergency rooms indicate indi-cate the actual number of injuries may be as much as a quarter higher, high-er, since many children are hurt in non-crash incidents for which a police report is not filed. Accident studies hae demonstrated demons-trated that children who are restrained res-trained in a car seat have more than 90 pe'cml less chance of being fat-alls fat-alls i limed and 78 percent less chaiw ol being seriously injured in a crash Wi l li THE recent passage o! the child restraint law. which ii: part states that all children tinder age five must be properly restrained res-trained in a motor vehicle driven by their parent or legal guardian who is a resident of Utah, the Davis County Health Department is offering a free educational workshop work-shop and affordable rental rates on car seats to all interested residents of the county, the health department depart-ment official says. The workshop is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 1:30 p.m. in Room 24. Davis County Courthouse. Farmington. and the rental rate for nine months is $15. A $10 refund is made available after nine months if the seat is returned in satisfactory condition.
