Two of ! those city teams won first and ! second place in that tournament. ! IN THE same month, another j group of young athletes, ages II ! and 12 years, were representing the ! city and winning in a Montpelier, ; Ida. all-star tournament. The resi- dents and parents of Farmington : were amazed at the success which : this small community was ex-'. ex-'. periencing in youth athletics. jl So very amazed, the question was being asked, "will this success ever be equaled or what could possibly be done for an encore?" That question was answered this past week, when two Farmington City Little League football teams captured titles and will now represent repre-sent the city in the annual Wasatch Front Football League Mini Bowl. YOU GUESSED it, the two teams were those same young athletes, ages 9 and 10, winning the 75 lb. classification, and the 1 1 year old boys winning the 90 lb. class. After winning in baseball, the boys put away their mitts and cleats, for helmets and pads. The boys were then told by their coaches, that if they worked hard, and set a goal, a football championship champion-ship was within theirreach, and the boys believed. FARMINGTON competed in the WFFL Football league, which is comprised of teams from Farming-ton Farming-ton on the south, to Idaho on the north. This same small community was forced to play against teams from other cities with five times their population and won. The 90 lb. 11 year old team is the defending mini bowl champion team and are making their third consecutive bowl appearance. The team is coached by Craig Malcom, assisted by Gary Lawson and Court Kimball. THIS TEAM is led by standouts, Jason Bush, Matt Peterson, Judd Cummings, Jeremy Lawson, Jeremy Jensen, Gavin Malcom and Chris Snarr. The team went 6-0 for the season. The 75 lb. 9 and 10 year team had a 7-0 record and was coached by Ron Osborn, assisted by Ken Spencer, Brad Palmer, David Traveller, Chuck Peppier and Richard Clay. This team is making their first bowl appearance, the team did not possess a great deal of talent, as other teams, but made up for it with a great team effort. THE TEAM was led by quarterback quarter-back Lance Bell, backs, Lance Rigby, Brad Palmer and Troy Osborn. Other line and defensive stars were Paul Spencer, Adam Achter, Scott Peppier, Jason Traveller, Jeff Peterson, Robbie lempleton, Mark Farr, Rick Orison, Ori-son, T.J. Jeleco, Warren Willis John Peterson, Dustin Campbell' Ryan Fausett, Chad Christensen, Brandon Clay, Trent Coates, Brett Boyce, Jay Longhurst and Brad Wood.
