Show Contract Awarded for Constructing Electric Light & Power Plant At a special se: sion of the City Council held at the City Hall on Wedndsday evening, bids were received re-ceived by the council from six companies com-panies for the construction of a power piant on Pleasant Creek, in Pleasant Creek Canyon, together with about three miles of transmission transmis-sion line and for the remodeling of the distribution system about the city of Mt. Pleasant. There were present at the meeting representatives of the Capital Electric Elect-ric Company, Cj E. Sandstrom & Bent R. Hansen, Owen H. Grey & Company, R. S. Lund, Lyman & Samuels, and the Lynch Cannon Engineering En-gineering Company. " The sealed proposrls and bids were opened and the councilmen and engineer en-gineer carefully went over each in its turn. There were six bids in all, pranging from $30,000. to $25,312.95 for the construction of the power plant and distributing system. The Lynch Cannon Eegineering Company bid $30,000. The Capitol Electric Company bid $29,985.69. R. S. Jkind bid $28,501.30. Owen H. Grey & Company bid $27,645.71. C. E. Sandt-trom Sandt-trom & Bent R. Hansen bid $26,248, 23. And Lyman & Samuels bid $25, 312.95 which was the lowest bid made. At eleven o'clock on Thursday the council, after due consideration of bids recsived, awarded the contract to Lyman & Samuels of Salt Lake City. There bid was $935.28 lower than Sandstrom & Hansen who were next in the race. The Council was very much pleased pleas-ed in the way the bids were received and it was indeed gratifying-to have so many companies take an interest v " the construction of the plant. The bids were very much lower than had been anticipated. The engineers had previously figured that the work could be done for about $27,770. and upon these figures had the council based their opinon. The specifications specificat-ions are made out so that the company com-pany will have to put in a first class plant in every detail. . The contract for the sale , of the city bonds was awarded to James N. I :Wright & Company of Denver on ' the 24th of March. The bonds will be for $38,000. in denominations! of ! $1,000. each with intere3t at the i rate of 5 1-2 per cent. Interest pay-: pay-: able semi-annually.
