Aug. 27 is the filing deadline for city office. After eight years on the council, I Wells said he will not run again. He i is declining to run for re-election for a number of reasons. One is that he has continuing involvement with the development of a ski resort near Lake Tahoe. Coleman has not decided if he will f run for mayor or run for re-election to the council. But he said he is not done with electoral politics in Park City. The councilman said he is inclined to run for mayor but referring to his business he said he I has not determined if he will have , - enough extra time to fulfill the added responsibilities. Another factor in that decision is that Coleman does not want to lose his vote on the council. The mayor only votes in the event of a tie. Doilney said Tuesday he will not run for mayor. He was quoted on KPCW radio as saying he would run for mayor only if Coleman did. But upon hearing of the Dering candidacy, Doilney said he would not run. Doilney has thrown his support to Dering. Mayor Jack Green, veteran of city government in Park City including terms on the council and other boards, said he has not determined if he will run again. Green said his health will play a factor in the decision. Lately, he has been feeling pretty well, he said. Dering, who filed Wednesday at the Marsac Municipal Building, said he is doing so at the urging of some city councilmen and other Park City residents. Dering, who now owns and operates his own marketing and advertising firm, said he believes he is in a position to help the town as it sits at a new crossroads. Park City now faces, among other things, a challenge to increase summer tourism. The mayoral candidate believes he has the public relations and marketing skills to boost the town's summer business. Dering maintains that Park City's success is tied to help from state officials: 'and tourist ' promotion dollars.
