In this 1936 film, sailors Fred 'v"l Iff Astaire and Randolph Scott C JT romance Ginger Rogers and her sister Harriet Hilliard. (Hilliard became more famous under her married name Harriet Nelson! ) Bit roles feature Lucille Ball and Betty Grable. The film plays on Friday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. (for 25 cents) and 7 p.m. (for 50 cents ) . The library is at 209 East 400 South. At the Blue Mouse: "L'Homme Blesse" deals with a young man awakening to his homosexuality; "Camila" is the true story of the love between a young socialite and a Jesuit priest in 1847 Argentina; and "Ladies on the Rocks" is a Danish buddy movie about a female comedy team. The Mouse is at 260 East 100 South. The Utah Media Center continues its Howard Hawks series with "Monkey Business," as chemist Cary Grant concocts a youth elixir that infects him, wife Ginger Rogers and Marilyn Monroe. The film plays on Aug. 9 at 7 :30 p.m. , Aug. 10 at 5 and 10 p.m. and Aug. 11 at 8 p.m. Also that week, the Center presents Robert Altaian's "Nashville," a kaleidoscopic portrayal of 24 characters set against Nashville's music, politics and passion. Its many stars include Lily Tomlin, Keith Carradine, Shelley Duvall, Ronee Blakely, Scott Glenn and Jeff Goldblum. It plays on Aug. 9 at 9:30 p.m., Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 11 at 5 and 10 p.m. The films play in the auditorium of the Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple. Vocalist Valentin Aguirre Xyty appears in a recital with pianist y y Phillip A. Day on Aug. 8, 8 p.m., in yvT the Clock Room of the Deer Valley ' N Snow Park Lodge. Tickets are $6 at the door or at the Kimball Art Center. On Friday, Aug. 9, a chamber program at the Kimball Art Center near Park City's Main Street, includes Glenn Dicterow and pianist Frank Weinstock at 8 p.m. Tickets available at KAC or Radio Shack. And on Aug. 14, a 7 p.m. program at Snow Park Lodge's Clock Room features guests Paul Neubauer, Manuel Ramos and Steve Balderston. The Park City Resort Center presents classical music with the Jane Morrison Trio on Aug. 11. Trenches presents jazz music on Aug. 14. The I concerts, under the tent near the ice rink, are presented at 7 and 8:30 ' I p.m. and are $3. . v. :-f --. ;.; -y - U The Utah Symphony presents an all-Tchaikovsky program for its season finale, including the Polonaise, Symphony No. 2 and the 1812 Overture. The program is presented on Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. at Symphony Hall, 123 W. West Temple, presents Spencer Davis from Aug. 8 to 10, the Paul DeLay Band from Aug. 11 to 13 and Connie and Friends on Aug. 14. Country singer Jim Glaser presents two free shows at Lagoon on Aug. 9, at 7 and 9 p.m. Tickets available at Arctic Circles and the KSOP studios. THEATRE The Intermountain Actors V Ensemble presents the Park City aerT4? Shakespeare Festival. The festival T fj includes "The Merchant of Venice" I (every Thursday) , "As You Like It" -W (every Friday), and "Macbeth" (every Saturday). The programs begin at 8 p.m., after a 7: 15 p.m. Greenshow, and run through August at the Park City Resort Center. In addition, the Festival Opera Company presents Puccini's "Tosca" every Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Egyptian Theatre on Main Street. The opera runs through August. Tickets are $20 (all four shows), $15 (the Shakespeare plays), $7 (single programs) and $5 (studentsseniorschildren under 12), Hiss and cheer with Park City Performances as it presents the melodrama "Deadwood Dick" at the Egyptian Theatre on Park City's Main Street. It plays every Friday and Saturday at the Egyptian at 7 : 30 p.m. It also plays every Monday at the tent on the Park City Resort Center at 7:30 p.m. The schedule continues through Aug. 31. Tickets are available at the Kimball Art Center or the Egyptian (649-9371). Cost for the Egyptian presentation is $5 (adults), $4 (seniors) and $3 (children). For the Resort Center tent version on Mondays, tickets are ' $4 (adults), $3 (seniors) and $2 (children). Group rates are available. -The Salt Lake musical "The Gathering" stars Nelden Maxfield at the Triad theater. It plays Tuesday-Saturday through Aug. 10 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets, at $5, are available at Datatix outlets. A matinee is on Aug. 10 at 5:30 p.m. "Camelot" plays at the Sundance Summer Theatre in Provo Canyon on odd calendar dates. Sundays are excluded. Be sure to dress warmly for the cold mountain slopes. Curtain is 8:30 p.m. "The Wizard of Oz" plays on even calendar days, with the same show times through Aug. 31. The Lagoon Opera House presents "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" Wednesday-Saturday through August Showtime is 8:30 p.m. -Promised Valley Playhouse presents "The Light of the World "a sacred musical drama, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 24. The theater is at 132 South State in Salt Lake. -Theatre 138 in Salt Lake presents "Ladies in Retirement" Thursday-Saturday through Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. at 138 South 200 East.
