Show A recipe for'a county fair In an open field, combine generous amounts of children, chickens, livestock and cotton candy. Stir slowly on a ferris wheel and season to taste with homegrown squash, tomatoes, preserves and prize-winning pies. Serve with hand-sewn quilts, flower bouquets and plenty of blue ribbons. What've you got? A county fair, and if you are hankering for a taste of one, you're in luck. The Wasatch County Fair is under way this week in Heber and the Summit County Fair will open in Coalville early next week. Then, if you are still hungry for more, the Utah State Fair will be open Sept. 5-15. This weekend's events in Heber include a country market and stock shows at the fairground from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and the Utah Clogging Championships each evening at 9 at the Heber Middle School. The home art exhibits open Thursday afternoon at the Wasatch High School. There will also be a rodeo Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. The Summit County Fair schedule begins with a talent show Friday and a horse show and pageant Saturday. But the real action starts when the carnival comes to town Wednesday. The Summit County Fair continues through Saturday, Aug. 17. This week's schedule is printed below. |
