Show Singer to appear at music festival S ' " 1 The Deer Valley Chamber Music Festival will have a multinational sound tonight as vocalist Valentin Aguirre sings Spanish, French and Italian tunes in the Clock Room at Snow Park Lodge in Deer Valley. The vocal recital, accompanied by Philip A. Day on the piano, will begin at 8 p.m. Although Aguirre, of Spain, always enjoyed singing, he did not pursue it as a career until pianist Joachim Achucarro recognized the special quality of his tenor voice. Then Aguirre's talent came to the attention of an Italian music critic who assured him he had a future as a vocalist. Much hard work accomplished accom-plished in a short time led Aguirre to enter and win the Toulouse Vocal Competition in France. After that victory, his career blossomed, as he traveled to the United States to perform in the American Opera Auditions. From 375 singers, he was chosen to perform the tenor lead in the American premiere of Cherubini's "L'Osteria Portuguese." Aguirre also has appeared with the Salt Lake Opera Theatre and with Valentin Aguirre has sung with the Utah Symphony the Utah Symphony, with which he sang the tenor solo from Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony."
