Show ... . A Summit, Globe Travel join forces 4' : by Kris Passey There will be one fewer travel agency jn Park City due to a merger between Summit International Travel and the Park City branch of Globe Travel Agency, Inc. Jim Trapp, owner of the Park City branch of Globe, will bring Globe accounts to Summit International in exchange for 50 percent ownership. Trapp said no cash changed hands in the merger agreement. The combined company will retain the phone numbers and the name of Summit International Travel but will move offices to the former Globe location at 1901 Prospector Ave., according to Gretta Whitten, who will remain as manager of the new operation. The firm also will retain Carolyn Meyer, who headed operations at Globe, ard Janet Buckner and Charlotte Boggess, who were formerly for-merly with Summit. Glove Travel opened its Park City branch in March of 1982, according to Trapp. He and his family own the Salt Lake Globe Travel, which they purchased in 1971. Trapp said jhe merger with Summit will "make it a better situation for both of us." and predicted revenue increases totaling more than the combined companies. Whitten said the overhead had been reduced by the merger while more people had been added to serve the existing client base. "That has to mean better service," Whitten added. Summit International opened its doors in May 1983. It is owned by 11 partners who will now share ownership with Trapp. Both Whitten and Trapp said one fewer agency in Park City would probably mean better business. Since the merger of Summit and Globe, four travel agencies have Park City offices. |
