Show Keep up the good work Editor: I just finished reading the comments by Debby Symonds and Bob Haedt in the Jan. 10th edition of the Letters to the Editor. I would like to believe that all of us, after reaching adulthood, possess pos-sess the abilities to understand tongue-in-cheek humor and to laugh at ourselves. Unfortunately, some of us develop single-minded sensitivities. When barbs that are meant to tickle these sensitivities begin to sting, it might be ' time to reassess our own inportance and our senses of humor. We have all seen the occasional rude, insensitive tourist, but we have also known many more warm and wonderful tourists who have enriched enrich-ed our lives as well as our pocketbooks. It is obvious that Park City's economy is reliant upon tourists, but tourism shouldn't be above criticism of hometown peers. In such cases we are given to excesses and the best way to forgive such excesses is to laugh at them. Many of our finest minds, including Mark Twain, have implored implor-ed us to refrain from taking ourselves too seriously... a sound idea in this age of over-specialization. Keep up the good work, Teri! Sincerely, BillTatomer |
