Show Chamber elects board members J Mickey Smith, owner of Advance Ad-vance Reservations, has been a member of the board of directors for two years. He has served as executive treasurer of the board for the past year. Laura Thomas has been involved in-volved in the ski industry since 1975! She is presently director of marketing forParkWest Ski Area. Her prior experiences include assistant director of marketing for t Park City Ski Corp., project coordinator for retail travel agent ski shows, and consulting for several Park City property management man-agement companies. Thomas is active on the Tourist Marketing Committee of the Chamber Bureau. Russell Veenema, marketing director at Deer Valley Resort, has several years' experience in resort and country club management. manage-ment. Jan Wilkin g has been publisher , of the Park Record for 10 years. He has served on the Chamber Bureau board of directors for the past three years and is also active in the Rotary Club. ".v Symonds said a nominating committee chaired by outgoing board member Dick Beck sent applications to a number of Chamber Bureau members who had expressed interest, or wno the committee hoped would serve on the board. Applications were also available at the Chamber Bureau office. Applications were then reviewed by the nominating committee and evaluated according accord-ing to several criteria which included being a member of the Chamber Bureau in good standing stand-ing and being active on at least one committee. : A ballot consisting of ; 17 nominees with a short biography on each was then sent to the general membership of the ChamberBureau with each member mem-ber business receiving one vote. The ballots were then returned to the ChamberBureau office and tabulated. ChamberBureau members are encouraged to meet the new board of directors at the Annual Meeting and Membership Social on Jan. 21. Eight Chamber Bureau members mem-bers have been elected to serve three-year terms on the Park City Area ChamberBureau's board of directors, said executive director Debby Symonds. , .,. The new board members are Rick Barnes, D.D.S., Jackie Craigle, Paul D., Kalkbrenner, Kim Drew McClelland, Mickey Smith, Laura Thomas, Russell J. Veenema and Jan W Liking. .,., The board of directors consists, of 22 members who are elected by' the general membership of the Chamber Bureau. Terms on the board are staggered so that not all positions are vacated in the same year. , , The board sets policies for the ChamberBureau, and each board member serves on one of nine committees. The nine committees are Convention Solicitation, Solici-tation, Econonic Development, Lodging, Membership, Propec-tors, Propec-tors, Restaurants, Retailers, Tourist Marketing, and Transportation. Transpor-tation. These committees make recommendations to the board on specific programs and provide direct interaction between the board and the membership. Rick Barnes, a local dentist, is active with the Park City Fire Department and is a certified EMT. He serves on the Economic Development and Membership Committees of the Chamber Bureau. Jackie Craigle is presently the sales manager at the Yarrow Hotel and Conference Center. She has 11 years of experience in f the hospitality industry and is chairperson of the Chamber Biads iGoivention-'SolieiUtion Sub-Committee. ' Paul Kalkbrenner is self-em- ployed in commercial and residential resi-dential development and construction. con-struction. He is an ownerpartner of ADAC Corp. and is active on the Membership Cpmmittee. Kim McClelland currently is vice-presidentgeneral manager of Jupiter Property Management. He has been involved in resort property management since moving mov-ing to Park City in 1979. |
