Show Lefs loosen up Editor: I find it hard to understand censorship of the press. I find it especially hard to reason with censorship of humor. When I hear people using the statement "allowed these potentially offensive pieces to be included in the paper (especially during such a busy visitor week)," I get the idea that these people are only looking at the size of one's wallet. I can't see where any tourist could be offended by an obviously tongue-in-cheek article or question in our paper. We are all tourists in this town, some of us just stay longer. People have to learn to loosen up and stop counting heads and beds and bucks. What I think is of grave concern are the people that think that these short-term tourists are everyone's life blood. I do understand under-stand that many people rely on "the season." But I think we would all benefit by keeping our sense of humor so that the rest of us can survive "the season." I feel that the article in our paper did not offend any person, be it long-or short-term tourist. The only ones offended Were those people in our town that see tourists only in terms of dollar signs. When you consider a developer's . firsPplanis? nuWK?rous concessions) toe j the finished product, you can see how necessary a sense of humor in this town really is. Sincerely, Sam Circo |
